Wake up, World! A Day in the Life of Children Around the World by Beatrice Hollyer is a beautiful book. It features 8 children from around the world, 3 of whom come from the Compassion countries of India, Ghana and Brazil. It will give you and your family a glimpse into what life is like for others around the world, and will enlighten readers of all ages.
What country do you think I should sponsor a child from? There are so many to choose some I need some advice! :)
ReplyDeleteThat's a hard question to answer.... the need is great everywhere. Here are some tips and ideas in helping you decide:
ReplyDelete1. Pray and ask God to match you up with a child.
2. Consider a country that you would like to learn more about and someday possibly visit - Some countries are easier and cheaper to travel to (central america) and some are easier to learn about (I've found very little info about Togo).
3. Browse through the photos of children needing a sponsor and see if you are drawn to any of them.
4. In the past 17 years, I have sponsored children all over the world (Peru, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Ghana, Kenya, Ethiopia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines and India)...each country operates differently in how they correspond with sponsors. In my personal experience, I have received the most letters from my kids in East India, Philippines and Ghana.
Hope this helps!
I've read that book and also shared it with my nephew. Lots of good info and the pictures were neat for children of the younger variety :)
