How to Draw an Octopus

Have you written to your kids yet this month?

If not, what are you waiting for?

I worked on our letters last week and have already sent them off. They were simple ~ here is a sample of what I wrote this month.

Dear Lian,
Thank you so much for the letters you write to us. Each letter brings a smile to our faces. We especially liked the pictures you drew. I think from your letters that you like to draw. Both Sydney and Kayleigh love to draw. Every day they draw many pictures.
We recently went to an aquarium and saw an octopus. It was very neat. We live near the Pacific Ocean, so the aquariums have some really cool sea and ocean animals for visitors to view. I included a step-by–step guide of how to draw an octopus for you.
It is neat to hear that you want to be a veterinarian and help animals. Sydney wants to open a pet store one day and mostly sell lizards and snakes. Kayleigh wants to help her with the store. They have been talking about this store for a couple years now!
In our country we are getting ready to celebrate Thanksgiving. On this day we have a big feast with family and friends and give thanks to God for all the blessings He has given us. We don’t live near our family, so we will have friends over for dinner. We will eat a turkey and mashed potatoes, along with a pumpkin pie for dessert.
We hope you are doing well. We love you very much. Here is Sydney and Kayleigh’s memory verse from church. Do you know this one?
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified, do not be discouraged for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9
Love, Jill (and Kevin, Sydney and Kayleigh too)

And here is the "how to draw an octopus" I copied onto the back of each letter....

This comes from the Draw Write Now series. We have a couple of the books and use them for independent work in our homeschooling journey. It recently occurred to me that these would be perfect to copy and send along to our Compassion kids.

I'll be giving away some correspondence kits later this week, so be sure to come back!

I'm linking up with Michelle's Correspondence Connections series.
