Indonesian Pisang Goreng

We decided to give another dessert recipe from the "Step Into My Shoes" newsletter a try! This recipe, Pisang Goreng, was an even bigger hit than the Rice Pudding (although the Rice Pudding was good).

The recipe for Pisang Goreng is available through Compassion's Indonesia Nusa Tenggara Timur page.

Juanito really enjoyed making this dish because I let him cut the bananas with a butter knife…

And Rosie appreciated the limes…I let her "cook" with 1/4 of the lime.

The only changes I made to the recipe were that we used 2 large bananas (instead of 4 small), Juanito squeezed lime juice into the batter after zesting the lime, and I sprinkled powdered sugar on top, instead of granulated.

Also, instead of dipping in 2 slices of banana at a time and then frying them, we just dumped all the banana slices in the batter and then filled the pan.

The end result was delicious!!! We finished the whole plate after dinner…

I think Rosie thought it was just as good as the Rice Pudding…

But Juanito liked these much more! I will definitely be making these again.

I am excited to share with our correspondent, Jenny, that we tried the recipe and to send her the coloring pages the kids decorated for her! If you have older kids and would like to get more involved, here are some ideas:

* Indonesian flag and country coloring page
* Individualized coloring page
* Learn an Indonesian game: Main Karet Gelang
* Time for Kids:
