Help Me Fill the Backpack

I'm just a teeny, weeny bit excited because I am officially going to Nicaragua at the end of January to meet Josseling! I'm going with my mom and she'll meet her Kerlint who attends the same Compassion project as my Josseling.

Over the weekend I found this backpack on clearance and thought it was perfect to take to Josseling. Now I need to fill it and I need your help.

What gifts would you give to a 17 year old girl?

Ohhhh, how fun!! Lip gloss, nail polish, hair things (clips, brush, etc), tshirt, fun notebook, colored pens or pencils. :)
Such awesome news to read about!!! I am so excited for you, Jill. :)
I'll have Alyssa tell you what a 17-year-old girl would like to find in that backpack. ;)

Wow! So exciting, Jill!!! :)

Here's a few ideas:
- journal
- pens
- hair elastics/pins
- lip balm
- candy/gum/mints
- a dress or nice outfit [or casual wear as well! :)]
- sketchbook/pencils/pencil crayons (I don't know if she's an artist?)
- a CD of some good worship music? (I don't know if you know if she'd have a way to play it or if English worship music would make any sense to her, but just an idea.)

Hope that helps! :) Can't wait to hear about your trip!
Jealous! I can't wait to visit one of our kids someday.
Lip gloss, nail polish, pretty flip-flops, a pretty necklace/bracelet. How about a letter "J" necklace? It could stand for Josseling, Jill & Jesus! :)

Scented and/or glitter markers, gel-pens..

And how about stickers? Who doesn't love stickers? :)

I so wish we could send our Compassion kids more than just paper items. I have trouble coming up with ideas for the older kids.
Looks like you have a pretty good list of suggestions so far!! I am hoping to find a couple of the Narnia books in Spanish to take to Lina. I also have some flip flops for her. But I need to get shopping also! Maybe we could compare lists ;)
Flashlight and extra batteries, engraved Bible, books, personal towel/washcloth set...for me it'd be hard to only fill 1 backpack :)
I can't get the comments to load on my phone, so some of these might be repeats. You can get her a Spanish Bible with her name imprinted on the front. I try to send Bibles to my kids when I get the opportunity and they always LOVE them. I have had them imprinted and I also write a message inside. I'd say you can also take her school supplies, hair things, maybe a necklace or another piece of jewelry, art supplies if she likes to draw, etc. Since a backpack is pretty big, it would be nice to take some things for her family as well. I packed kitchen towels, wooden utensils, and candy to share in my boys' backpacks when I went to Tanzania!
So exciting!!! I love all the ideas you have so far... And I look forward to hearing what you end up filling the cute backpack with!! A couple more ideas are a nail set (clipper, file, etc.), a small stuffed animal, cute fuzzy socks...and I love the idea of books!! Oh, candy is fun too ;)
Some reading books? I know that Karen Kingsbury have written many books.
And what do she like? Maybe Sudoku's? Pictures from you and your family in a nice book!
Give stuff what help her, but also stuff that give her emotinal a good memory. What would you give a daughter?

i don't say the things from others! But they also good idea's!
