Here's a short version of my story...
Sixteen years ago, when I was in college, Bart Compolo (Tony's son) spoke at my school and talked about Compassion's ministry. God began working in my heart and when I ran across an advertisement for Compassion in my CCM magazine, I mailed in a child request form. A couple weeks later, I received sponsorship information for Judith in Kenya, thus beginning my journey as a Compassion sponsor.I quickly realized the incredible impact my sponsorship had on Judith's life. Not in a position to sponsor more kids, I joined the advocate network and set out to find sponsors. Along the way, I heard about and met some remarkable people who were sponsoring several children. I was inspired and began praying that someday I would have my own family, full of children all around the world.Over the past 16 years, God has answered that prayer. We have had many children, from many different countries, pass through our lives. He continues to bless us, so that we can sponsor more and more children. God has used the ministry of Compassion and the relationship we have with our sponsored children to teach us and bring us into a deeper relationship with Him. I am truly amazed that God allows us to partner with Him in this amazing ministry.
I would LOVE to hear your story. You can share how you became involved in Compassion, who your sponsored children are, where they live or what you love most about this ministry.
I enjoyed reading your story.... it is fun to see how God works! It has made me think about my own 'compassion' story. So fun and exciting to see what God has done and think about what He will do!
ReplyDeleteI love hearing your story. How neat to share. I didn't realize it was so long ago (16yrs) since you started this journey.
ReplyDeleteMy journey with Compassion started in 2008 with a student life tour that I was a chaperone at. I heard David Platt speak... I remember looking through the packets and spotting our little boy. I didn't pick it up then... just went back to my seat but couldn't stop thinking of him. I went back to the packets and found him! His name is Ucok and he is from Indonesia. My application and back ground check have been turned in to Compassion.
Hugs,
