Meeting Josseling

You have no idea how excited I am to share this photo with you.

Really - no idea.

I would have been excited under normal circumstances, but you being able to see this photo right now is not under a normal circumstance. It's nothing short of a miracle.

You see, last night when Kevin got home from the airport, we all gathered around the computer to see his photos ~ particularly of our precious girl, Josseling.

The camera was hooked up and the photos were imported. All 5 of them.

What?!?!?!

Only 5 photos, and these were photos my husband took on the way to the airport earlier that morning.

Nothing else.

All the photos he took of Josseling ~ gone.

All the photos he took of her Compassion project ~ gone.

All the photos he took of Nicaragua flowers - ~ gone.

All the photos he took at the beach ~ gone.

Before retiring for the night, I shot off a few emails to parents letting them know Kevin made it home.

Stunned and shocked, we went to bed, shedding a few tears. We both lost some sleep over the issue. He was sad and frustrated he couldn't show us what he saw. I was sad I wouldn't see what he saw, sad I couldn't see a picture of he and Josseling together.

When I woke up  I checked the camera again, after all.... God can do all things ~ even restore missing photos. But they weren't there. I opened my email and read through a couple messages. All of our parents had responded to my message that Kevin was home and the photos were gone, and one suggested trying "photo retrieval software".

A couple thoughts ran through my mind....."Really? They make such a thing?"  and then "Of course they do! Why didn't I think of that?"

Guess what?!?! It worked. Praise God it worked.

And so I present to you......
Josseling (in pink) and Kevin (also Josseling's mother and younger sister)

I have many, many more to share, but not enough time to get them up right now. I'll be working on it.

Just wanted to say ~ God is good. Oh so good.

God is so Good, all the time!
GOD is good. I am so glad you were able to retrieve them. I would not have thought about that either. Glad someone suggested it. That is so awesome Kevin was able to meet her and her family. She is beautiful. Can't wait to see the other pictures.

Wow - that is a picture to treasure! Soooo glad it worked out - now you can tell the rest of us HOW you retrieved them! I've only heard of doing that, but never tried it. Anxiously awaiting your next post with "the rest of the story"!
how awesome is that! I'm so excited it worked for you! And I absolutely love the picture! Waiting for more :)
WOW. He can do all things - including bringing back pictures of course! :D Wonderful story. Sorry you both lost sleep, I know that feeling and it's awful! I lost a lot of pics from Tanzania. Cannot wait to hear the story of his visit!!!!
Oh wow! What a great photo! And story! This happened to one of my Advocates when we were in the DR -- we spent the day together with our children and on the way back to the motel looked at her photos and movies on her camera. Then suddenly she said, "Oh no!" They were gone. And no, we didn't know anything about photo retrieval software. We never saw them again. The only thing I could say to Mindy (off the top of my head) was, "Well, now you are on the same level with Francisco. He doesn't have hundreds of photos to remember the day by. You will have to remember all the wonderful things that happened, just like he will." She nodded and smiled and said, "Yes. That's true. It's OK." Both of us still remember a video Francisco turning to smile and wave at the camera and then running to jump in the swimming pool and make a cannonball. It was so funny! It will stay in our minds forever, and that's what counts.
Wow, what a gift... to have recovered all the photos! Thanks for sharing, Jill! Looking forward to seeing more in the coming days.
Photo retreival software?! I had no idea that existed! Praise God it does!
