Scripture Memory - 1 John 3:17-18

According to Compassion's website, there are more than 2,000 verses in the Bible that reference children and poverty. Since Compassion is an organization dedicated to 'releasing children from poverty in Jesus' name', it makes sense that as families, we are familiar with what the Bible has to say about these issues.

On Compassion's website, you can access a list of compiled verses about children and about poverty. There is a also a beautiful, printable document to help aid you in your effort.

As a family, memorize specific Bible verses that speak to the issues of children and the poor. Not only will you be hiding God's Word in your hearts, you are also creating a wonderful opportunity to learn what God has to say about the most vulnerable people of our world.

Each week I'll feature a new verse for you to meditate on and memorize. My family will be doing this right along with yours.

If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.

  1. My family will join you on this verse! I am always amazed at how quickly my children can memorize... a lot faster than I can!

  3. It's one of those "kick you in the gut" type of verses, isn't it?
