What I'm Reading

Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide by Nicholas D. Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn

The message of this book is heartbreaking. It's hard to believe that so many women around the world endure such oppression simply because they are women.

Although Compassion is in no way directly related to this book or this movement, you better believe that sponsorship of little girls in the countries where Compassion works is battling this issue. And the best part about Compassion's work? They are dedicated to holistic child development ~ including a child's spiritual development.

Have you read this book?

I haven't read the book, but I watched the documentary that aired on PBS. The documentary is heartbreaking, yet it is uplifting to see the spirit and strength of women. It really left me inspired. The full-length documentary is on Netflix now, and I have told almost everyone I know to watch it :)
